They quickly realize the failure is due to the same intention drain and metallic dust affecting other parts of Silver Creek. Clara recalls historical lore about silver artifacts resisting resonance, linking their problem to the missing tuning forks mentioned by the archivist Mr. Finch. Ben suspects the answer lies in the secure storage annex of the Nutcracker Emporium. Upon reaching the annex, they discover sticky maple-scented residue sealing the door, indicating another group has recently been there. Inside the secured case, they find a small, clean silver tuning rod that seems immune to the dust. As they retrieve it, a loud, high-pitched vibration begins emanating from directly beneath the floor, shaking the building and pointing them toward the town's lowest infrastructure point, the Buffer Vault.
