Okay I'll bite.
I unusually read Science fiction, especially space marines. But I do enjoy court case investigative thrillers. Not sure what order (Sinai Secret) was written for this series. Lang reminds me of Lee Child's Jack Reacher series of which our lawyer Reilly transforms instantly into a combat soldier. Our hero even surprises himself with his shooting prowess! Okay I do get lazy eye's and use the audio "text to speech" feature (Kindle Fire HD) so I thought I may have slept through our hero's gallant rescue of fair damsel! But going back (Thank you notes tab!) I must have skipped the rescue as our girl is back home safe and sound? Ahh...how? Oh come on! Do I have to read another book to have Reilly talk about "a great save" over a beer? Is this a George RR Martin joke where we totally disregard a major character in book 5 cause he wants to focus on "Other" characters. Okay, about this story. There is enough substance to keep us interested and follow our hero(?). Though I thought too much time was given to the characters that died. Yeah, like CSI or forensic files, you have to start with a dead body (or Lots of dead bodies). Quite a few references to previous adventures which is a blatant pitch to read the previously published works. To be expected. I'm guessing that the Detective is a reoccurring character as he seems interesting.
Ok I'll bite and check out earlier works to see if Mr.Loomis has been steadily growing and developing his writing skills. (Or it could be the publisher lost a couple chapters.)
Interesting Idea
The plot was a bit predictable. The level of extreme violence was unnecessary - someone was being shot at if not gruesomely killed every time you turned around. Could have done so much more with the idea. Still an interesting time filler read for my travels.
And you thought you understood Exodus.
I always enjoy the books written by Gregg Loomis. The characters are interesting and the plots are engaging. The only thing that detracts from my enjoyment of his books are the long and involved explanations of their historical background and significance. The explanations can become so involved with finding your way back into the plot can be confusing. Nevertheless, I keep buying them, reading them, and, best of all, enjoying the Lang Reilly thrillers.
Great read, excitement galore.
This is a fast paced, well written and exciting story. The characters are well developed. There are lots of surprises and action. I really enjoyed this book.
Good plot, needs a stronger, more competent editor and/or spell-checker.
Good plot, however....a lot of place names and streets were misspelled. I've lived in the mid-east for a number of years, and am familiar with the places and streets... these names are so mangled (and do not exist as such), which makes me question whether places/streets referred to in other countries suffer the same problem.
