The Snakehole Lounge

In this episode of your favorite Parks and Recreation fan-rewatch podcast, we hit one of the most important and landmark episodes for the early eras of the show. The "Hunting Trip" episode featured the biggest on-screen roles for the then side characters Donna and Jerry. Raina shares some of the inside information she's obtained from reading Jim O'hair's new book, Welcome To Pawnee, which we've been thoroughly enjoying! What is your favorite part of the Hunting Trip episode?

This episode features the first appearance of Tammy Swanson (Megan Mullaly) and real life wife of Ron Swanson (Nick Offerman). Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) has to help guide him back away from the darkness of his ex-wife, and restore balance to the beauty of the Park Department.

A delegation of Venezualian government officials travels to our favorite city of Pawnee, IN, to visit with our Heroine Leslie Knope. While she is excited at first, things don't go as planned when the delgates are a group of rude entitled jerks. Our podcast hosts, Raina and Brandon, struggle to nail down the B-plot for this one, and they get a little into the muddy politics of the early 2000's NBC sitcom. Some things are funnier than they were at the time, and other jokes feel a little dated. Come join us in the pit!

After a long hiatus your favorite Pawnee citizens are back! Raina and Brandon Noel return with an episode they actually recorded in August and it's an interesting transitional episode for Parks & Recreation, as well.

While Leslie Knope spends her time, along with the help of Tom, judging a local beauty pageant -- April actually joins the competition! Meanwhile, the ever boring Mark Brendanawicz continues to be boring, even though he decides to extend an olive branch to Ann Perkin's ex-boyfriend Andy Dwyer, when they both find out that he is homeless and living in the pit next to her house.

It's time to either, "Get with it or get out!" as our resident Pawnee historian and co-host Raina says. An all-time favorite episode for her, where Anne Perkins is headed out for her first date with the terrible Mark Brendanawicz. Meanwhile, Leslie Knope and Tom Haverford try to solve the mystery of who planted weed plants in the community garden. They end up finding Andy Dwyer is living in the pit, and we get the first appearance of Dave the cop! Come find out with us what G.O.R.P. stands for as a weird snack!

It's time to check your podcast privelege, and dive right into the second season of Parks & Recreation with us, and your new favorite fan rewatch of the greatest TV comedy of the 2000s Tux and Flipper, the new penguins at the Pawnee Zoo are going to get married! There's just one problem, it's the early 2000s and gay marriage was not the law of the land yet, and the show takes a hilarious, yet, positive stance on the then controversial issue. It takes great pleasure poking fun at all the backwards types who were, and some still are sadly, against equality. Our heroine Leslie Knope, however, is named Queen of the Gays and embraces her small, if accidental role, in pushing the fictional town of Pawnee to be better. Hilarity, of course, ensues.
