Jeremy Indika founder of Something to Say Official, presents his story.
When Jeremy was 8 years old when his father allowed a trusted friend and colleague, to stay in their home after his parents’ divorce. The man appeared kind and respectable, gaining the family’s trust.
Behind that image, he groomed and assaulted Jeremy.
The process was so subtle and calculated that, even as an adult, Jeremy cannot clearly remember how it began, only that the man became familiar, trusted, and normal in his life before abusing that trust.
Years later, after an attempted police prosecution, Jeremy discovered where the man lived. Searching for answers and closure, he confronted the situation himself and ended up being charged.
His experience shows how abuse often hides behind trust and respectability, leaving survivors with confusion and unanswered questions long after the abuse ends.
