Medusa has long been described as a horrible creature. She is so horrible, per the story, that one who looks upon her will turn to stone. However, Medusa was just a girl, She was raped by Poseidon and she was beheaded by Perseus, but she was just a girl. Not frightening. Not horrible. That she has been blamed for her own death is anathema. This energy of blame is what violent people hide behind. The energy of blame acts as a shield--the Shield of Medusa.
