Jesus prepares the Passover meal with complete foreknowledge and control over every detail. During the supper He reveals that one disciple will betray Him and then institutes the Lord’s Supper, showing that His body and blood will establish the new covenant. Afterward Jesus predicts that all the disciples will fall away, including Peter’s coming denial. Yet through it all His sovereignty shines, demonstrating that nothing is unfolding outside God’s plan.
