Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23

The parable of the sower and the seed is well-known. But have you ever stopped to think about how bad at sowing seed the farmer in that parable was? The sower doesn’t look like he knows what he’s doing. He threw a bunch of seeds on the path, on the rocks, and in the thorns! How hard can it be to avoid those places! Just throw the seed on the good soil, right?

But we’re thankful that God still chooses to throw his seed of the Word into our hearts that often look very path-like, rocky, and thorn-infested. Thank the Lord he knows what he’s doing. Thank the Lord his Word is more powerful than our hearts.
