This episode is a poem because there’s a difference between being happy with someone and making someone responsible for your happiness. I believe love should add to the life you’re already living, not become the only reason you enjoy it. I don’t want to be the reason you’re happy. I want to be someone you get to share your happiness with. Come sit with me for a second...
In this episode of The Space in Between, I share an experience that started with something as simple as me sitting down to eat fried pickles and get some work done, but turned into a much deeper conversation about insecurity, trust, relationships, and self-worth. What happens when another woman’s presence makes you uncomfortable? Is it something within yourself that needs attention, or is your partner giving you reasons to question the relationship? Come sit with me for a second...
This poem came to mind when I was watching Creed, not only because I love Michael B. Jordan but because he was the fighter in the ring, and the man who comes home carrying bruises nobody else can see. "Baby, I'll be your nurse" isn't about fixing him; it's about learning how to care for him after life has taken its swings. In my opinion, loving a strong man means becoming the place where he can finally take off his gloves, lower his guard, and allow himself to be nurtured. He can fight his own battles; I just want him to know he doesn't have to recover from them alone. One day!
I feel that when you spend enough time in your own company, you know how to appreciate someone else when they come around. I feel that we get so used to how someone else does things that we don't question it or ask if that's what we like. It requires you to show up differently for you to experience someone else.
This poem came to me when I was preparing my speaking engagement for the SOAR 2026 women's symposium, and after years of going through pain and trauma, my spirit gave me Job 14: 6-9, and I realized I am the tree sprouting new leaves and learning to unlearn and relearn again, and I pray you do the same. Thank you for listening.
You don't leave a good restaurant in the middle of dinner because another restaurant might have something better. But you also don't keep eating something you don't like just because you already ordered it.
It's not that we're comfortable in the familiarity; we're comfortable with knowing what to expect. And when we can no longer expect the outcome or the next move, we panic. Change can be panic-inducing because it lands us right in the space between uncertainty and familiarity. Should we go back because we're used to being comfortable, or is it time to move around?
Everybody assumes the worst when you change. You start moving differently, and people automatically think somebody hurt you, you've got an attitude, or you think you're better than them. Perhaps you know how to take accountability, and things in your life have shaken up, and you're relearning all over again. I'd be intimidated by me too.
Healing doesn't mean I need to disappear until I become some perfectly healed version of myself before I'm worthy of being loved. Love me While I heal is about learning that I can still be a work in progress and be loved at the same time. I can have triggers I'm learning and understanding, habits I'm trying to change, emotions I'm still learning how to communicate, and parts of myself I haven't figured out yet. I don't need somebody to "save me"; what I need is someone to understand.
Love attached is about looking back at the relationships I called Love and realizing how often I thought having to fight through something or someone was just part of "getting the person". But what happens when you finally stop seeing struggle as proof that the love is worth it/ This episode is about the difference between fighting for love and constantly having to fight just to experience it, and asking yourself a question I probably should've asked a long time ago: if its this hard just to get the relationship, why do I think getting the relationship is going to make everything easy Make it make sense...
