Getting back on to life
Vanessa Roth is a very succesful woman and the proud owner of an advertising company, and although she has put very hard work into her business, her obsession with it has sadly sucked away every other important aspect of her life, including her marriage. Now, Vanessa has to deal with the fact that she has no husband and no friends other than her niece, who decided to give her a very unexpected and unconventional birthday present. The Spice of Life is the journey of a woman who has to find her way back into enjoying life. She has to learn to take risks and letting go of her uptight self and she actually does that with the help of her niece, her assistant and some burlesque lessons.
It is a very sweet story that reminds us how to enjoy the important things in life. It is a fun, light read and I would totally recommend it. Although I have to warn you that there are a few spelling mistakes that even I could notice (English is not my first language), the story is a little predictable, and there wasn't enough dancing as I was expecting. But if you can get pass that I think you would really enjoy it. That is why I give it 3.5 stars.
FAVORITE AUTHOR
I love this first book In this category by this author. I have bought and read all of her Sarah Woods books (18 in all ) also and can't get enough of this author. Hope that she continues to write a 2nd book in this category. I am not one to read romantic novels but after reading the sample, I decided to buy it and am glad I did. There is no foul language or heavy sexual content or violence in any of her books. I find very few authors who write in her style. Do not see the need for a author to use profanity in a book to get one's point across. Hope she writes more romantic novels as well as more mysteries as I am out of books on this author to read.
I loved this book!
What a cast of quirky characters.
First there's Vanessa... who's an up tight, no nonsense kind of business owner of an advertising firm. (Soon to be ex-wife of James, a flailing suspense fiction writer)
Then there's Corey...Vanessa's well dress, well mannered, bi-sexual male assistant who aspires to being a graphic artist.
Then there's Frankie, Corey's female roommate. She's has a very bad attitude, a mouth like a sailor, and dresses in goth like clothing. She works in a sleezy diner, dates losers, also sports many facial piercing.
Then there's Anna...Vanessa much younger, but much wiser niece. Anna is Vanessa's deceased sister's daughter, and they had become very close over the years. Anna is attending nursing school.
