In this episode of The Spotlight, we highlight two performers bringing storytelling to life on ice and on stage.
First, McMaster graduate and St. Catharines native Avery Clark joins us to talk about performing with Disney On Ice. Clark shares her journey from local rinks to touring with the internationally renowned show, along with her favourite moments from the production. Disney On Ice presents Jump In! runs March 12–15 at the TD Coliseum in Hamilton, with tickets available through Ticketmaster.
Then, we speak with Rijaa Zehra Khan, one of the co-writers of Mahi on the Mountain, alongside Roya Motazedian and Ryma. The play is part of the Frost Bites Festival and was created by Triple Futures, a collective focused on queer, anti-colonial, and BIPOC community-oriented storytelling. Khan discusses the inspiration behind the production and what audiences can expect when it runs at The Staircase from March 6–8.
