The Applied Word

The Stable Rock

Listen Later

Men often build their security on things that inevitably fade—careers, investments, and physical strength. In Episode 9 of The Applied Word, we look at Matthew 28:20 through Charles Spurgeon’s May 11th devotional. We discuss the danger of building on the quicksand of a deceitful world and how to anchor your life, work, and family on the only stable rock: the eternal presence of Jesus Christ. No fluff. Just the Word and the walk.

🛠 The Applied Word: This Week’s Challenge

In Your Work:

Treat your career with excellence, but recognize it as a temporary assignment. Do not give it the ultimate authority over your peace or your identity.

In Your Family:

Demonstrate to your wife and kids that your stability comes from Christ, not your income. Lead your household by showing them what it looks like to trust the Rock over worldly circumstances.

The "Citizenship" Test:

Spurgeon reminds us to store our jewels where we can never lose them. Evaluate where your true citizenship lies this week. Are you investing your best energy into building a temporary earthly kingdom, or are you laying up treasure for the celestial shore?
