A naturalist and his sister welcome Sir Henry to Dartmoor—but Holmes suspects the most dangerous species may be walking on two legs 🌾🦋
The Stapletons of Merripit House
Dr. Watson meets the Stapletons—a brother and sister living near the Baskerville estate. Mr. Stapleton is an expert on the moor’s flora and fauna; Miss Stapleton is graceful, reserved... and terrified. Despite their hospitality, something in their manner is off-kilter, as if the truth lies just beneath a layer of charm. Watson’s suspicions grow with every interaction, especially when Miss Stapleton delivers a startling warning: “Go back to London.”
This chapter adds a chilling layer of tension, as Holmes’s unseen hand works in the background and Watson’s role on the ground grows increasingly dangerous.
Written and created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
