In this episode, I sit down with Heather Murdock — founder of Rise and Rejoice ministry and mother-in-law to a previous guest of ours, Emerson Murdock — for a raw, honest conversation about the long road from brokenness to freedom.

Heather grew up in poverty and chaos in Northern California, shaped by an alcoholic father, domestic violence, and a childhood that left her believing she was worthless. That belief sent her chasing validation through beauty, a pageant, and eventually a 20-plus-year battle with bulimia. At 19, with $300 in her pocket, she moved to Hollywood chasing fame — landing roles on Baywatch and in a film with Nicolas Cage and Charlie Sheen, and living the VIP lifestyle of early-'90s Hollywood and New York. But behind the glamour was exploitation, heartbreak, and a devastating loss: in 1994, her younger sister Willow was killed by a drunk driver, just as Heather was estranged from her family.

Heather shares how she came to faith at 39, and how one act of obedience — a phone call to forgive the man responsible for her sister's death — became the turning point that unlocked healing she'd sought for decades, including full freedom from bulimia. We dig into the belief-thought-behavior model she now teaches through Rise and Rejoice, how our childhood beliefs quietly shape our adult lives, and why transformation has to start at the level of the heart, not just behavior.

What does it look like when God takes a life that seems completely broken and turns it into something beautiful? In this episode, Tazh sits down with Shaina Bravo, a woman who grew up amid gang activity and cartel influence in Klamath Falls, Oregon, who experimented with drugs by fifth grade, battled addiction and homelessness as a young adult, and never had a model for what a healthy marriage or family could look like.

We're blessed to speak with Borum Ahn who shares the story behind Faith in Action, a ministry dedicated to combating human trafficking and restoring survivors through faith, practical support, and community. The guest opens up about her own journey—from childhood trauma and trafficking in South Korea to healing, redemption, and purpose in the United States. After attending a gala with Wipe Every Tear, she recognized her own past as a survivor and felt called to help others find freedom.

Through mission work in the Philippines, she now helps reach women in red-light districts with food, resources, and hope—offering a path to safe housing, education, and spiritual restoration.
