An unstable woman and her three-year-old daughter arrive unexpectedly at the doorstep of a reclusive mountain man. The woman claims that the girl is his daughter, then she disappears, and the man, whose whole world was his cabin, the forest, and his routine, finds himself cast unwillingly into fatherhood. As he is forced to face the outside world that he spent his whole life trying to avoid, he is taught, by the innocent little girl, to value himself, and to let himself experience the overwhelming beauty of unconditional love.
