In the summer of 1987, a twelve-year-old boy named Tommy Harwood borrowed his uncle's rusty submersible camera to explore the flooded quarry at Cedar Lake. The camera brought back images of a drowned town nobody remembered, streets still lined with trees, and a house with a light still on in the window. When Tommy went back alone the next night, the surface of the lake was glass-still, but something surfaced before he did. Luna pieces together a story of a boy who found what the lake had taken, and what the lake took in return. The last photograph he ever took shows the quarry at sunset, empty, save for a ripple where no boat had been.
