What an incredible group of students and an incredible collection of experiences.

Shamitha and Nandana showed us that our students don’t just have a seat at the table—they can help shape the conversation. Their work on the National AI Student Senate gave them an opportunity to bring the student perspective to a national discussion about the future of artificial intelligence in education.

Ryan demonstrated what it means to compete and represent your school at the national level, taking his hard work and dedication far beyond our district.

And Brooklyn showed us the power of passion, perseverance, and stepping outside your comfort zone. From the stage at Mountain Ridge to ASU Gammage and then to New York City for the Jimmy Awards, she represented herself, her school, and Deer Valley Unified with tremendous talent and pride.

What I love about these stories is that they remind us that student success doesn’t look just one way.

It can be leadership. It can be innovation. It can be competition. It can be creativity and the performing arts.

But behind every one of these accomplishments is a student who was willing to take a chance, work hard, and pursue something bigger.

And to our students listening today, I hope these stories remind you that there are opportunities all around you to find your passion, use your voice, and make an impact.

Sometimes, the path in education takes you to different schools, different districts, and different communities. But for some of our staff, DVUSD has always felt like home — and this year, we’re excited to welcome three familiar faces back to our district as principals.

Holly, Scott, and Jarrod each have their own unique story about their journey in education and what brought them back to Deer Valley. Today, we’ll hear what they remember about their time here, what they learned along the way, and why they chose to come home to DVUSD.

It’s a triple-double to end the school year, as Dr. Finch meets with two sets of triplets who are graduating from high school this year.

The Han brothers from Boulder Creek High School, and the Brown sisters of Sandra Day O'Connor High School share their memories of their DVUSD journeys.

Dr. Finch meets with four recent competition winners-- two from the spelling bee arena, and two from the DVUSD Battle of the Books.

Dr. Finch talks with O’Connor beach volleyball head coach Jamey Spartz, recently named the NFHS coach of the year in the nation for volleyball. And we meet Goldwater senior Makayla Martin, who will be studying nursing in Hawaii after receiving a generous scholarship opportunity from the Navy.
