One of the proofs that a person is truly at rest is that he gives thanks. Rest in God is one principal requirement that every child of God must possess.
One benefit of Thanksgiving is that it provides room for man to agree with God in prayers. Thus, being thankful is proof that we agree with God in/and for all things.
