Patricia Izbicki is a Neuroscientist studying the neuroscience of music at Iowa State University. Her research reveals the nature of various diseases and has applications in symptom management for developmental degenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. She ultimately aspires to identify new strategies for designing accessible evidence-based music interventions to promote cognitive and motor health later in life.

I recently had the pleasure of discussing the neuroscience of music, the psychology of music, and both's application to disease, health, and symptom management. We also talk about the graduate experience in neuroscience and psychology programs, graduate mental illness, graduate mental health, and transitioning from academia to practice.
