Is the Black Church obligated to take care of the Black Community, or has its role and responsibility changed over time?
In this segment, we have an open conversation about the relationship between the Black church and the community it serves. We discuss what responsibility churches have beyond Sunday service, including helping families in need, supporting the neighborhood, providing resources, mentoring the next generation, and being present when the community is struggling.
We also go back and forth on where that responsibility begins and ends. Should the Black community expect more from its churches, or are we placing responsibilities on the church that belong to the entire community?
Different perspectives hit the table as we discuss the history, influence, expectations, and future of the Black church.
Listen in and ask yourself: What responsibility does the Black church have to the Black community today?
