Have you ever thought about what it would be like growing up surrounded by technology or the opposite for our younger listeners? “The Guru of Geek” Marlo Anderson and “Tech Geezer” Jim Walsh are joined by Aaron Riopelle, a high school senior. Together, Marlo, Jim, and Aaron are exploring the generational tech divide on today’s episode of The Tech Ranch!
Advancements in space
It’s been 50 years since the US first landed on the moon. Since then, the push to explore space has declined significantly, but thanks to companies like SpaceX, space is returning to popularity. SpaceX has generated quite a buzz in the tech world, especially with their launches being streamed live for anyone to watch. The resurgent interest has helped space exploration transcend the generations.
Music and Movies
Unlike space, things like CDs and DVDs have had a much harder time staying relevant. With the increasing amount of streaming services, it’s easy to see why. Despite Marlo and Jim’s fond memories of these dying products, the younger generations are quick to move on. People choose to pay subscription fees to be able to access their music and movies of choice on demand. Add smart TVs and bluetooth functionality to the mix and it’s no surprise CDs and DVDs are on the way out.
