Today’s Scripture:

James 1:12 NIV

Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

There is always a test before the promise, or we can say there is always a cross before a crown. The test before the promise means that on our journey to where God is taking us, we will have some tests, we will have some challenges. It's how God develops us and it's the incubator for the promise.

You never get the promise without the test. You never get to the promised land without being tested in the wilderness. God will always prove us before he promotes us. 

The test might come in the form of a job loss, in the form of a sickness, in the form of a marital problem or not being able to get married, it might come in not having enough finances to do what you need to do. These are all tested before our promotion, they come before we step into the promise. 

There's a promise attached to your test, to your trials, you must persevere, and you must endure so that you can receive the promise. James says you are blessed if you can outlast your trials, that test, you will receive the crown of life, the blessings of the promise that God has for you. Persevere over that test and step into your promises.
