Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Since it’s founding, Christianity has dominated American culture. And although that’s brought us many amazing things, One unintended side effect is that it created laziness. Muscles that aren’t used atrophy.
Christians dominated and they no longer had any need to be ruthlessly rigorous, tirelessly truthful.
So as the new atheist movement took hold, Christianity was not prepared for the fight ahead. Not because it had no answers, but it simply wasn’t in fighting shape.
