The three gunas, or modes of nature, are often described as sattva, rajas, and tamas. Sattva is the mode of goodness, rajas is the mode of passion, and tamas is the mode of ignorance. These three gunas are present in all of us, but in different proportions.
Sattva is the quality of light, purity, and harmony. It is the quality that allows us to see the good in everything. Rajas is the quality of activity, passion, and change. It is the quality that drives us to take action and make things happen. Tamas is the quality of darkness, ignorance, and inertia. It is the quality that keeps us from seeing the truth and prevents us from taking action.
The gunas are always in a state of flux, and the proportions of each guna within us are constantly changing. Some people are more sattvic, while others are more rajasic or tamasic. The gunas are also influenced by our actions, thoughts, and emotions.
When we are in a state of sattva, we are able to see the good in everything and we are at peace with ourselves and the world around us. When we are in a state of rajas, we are full of energy and passion, and we are always striving to achieve something. When we are in a state of tamas, we are in a state of ignorance and darkness, and we are not able to see the truth.
