Manuel Acosta Mesa was a journalist and editor of the newspaper El Imparcial who was shot to death on 26 July 1956 at his home in Tijuana.

A year later Manuel Duenas was given a six year sentence for his involvement. No other suspect in the case had been publicly named by authorities.
