The week we review the 2010 American action thriller film The Town a tense Boston crime thriller co-written and directed by Ben Affleck, who also stars alongside Rebecca Hall, Jeremy Renner, Jon Hamm, and Blake Lively and Pete Postlethwaite.
Set in the gritty streets of Charlestown — a neighborhood notorious for producing bank robbers — the film follows Doug MacRay (Affleck), a career criminal trying to escape his past after falling for Claire (Rebecca Hall), a bank manager taken hostage during one of his crew’s heists.
As FBI agent Adam Frawley (Jon Hamm) closes in, Doug faces a battle between loyalty to his crew — especially his volatile best friend Jem (Jeremy Renner) — and his dream of a new life.
Well this gets off to a interesting start when the Aussie talks us through a recent jetski incident involving his children in Thailand.
And the Aussie was there and witnessed the whole thing! Wait till you hear what the Aussie did. Backing up his mate - just like the boys in The Town.
Tune in to find out this escalates very quickly and listen at the end of the podcast as the Scotsman starts to feel very self-conscious about his actions on the beach.
As for the movie - well this is a cracker. Not quite as good as Heat but a similar theme.
We recreate the famous Pete Postlethwaite scene in the florist shop and have a good laugh along the way.
We debate the scene where the policeman turns the other way when faced with 4 automatic gun wielding bank robbers - what would you do?
The Aussie says he would run straight towards the fire - one jetski incident and he thinks he's John Wick!
