Publisher's Summary:
Go behind the window displays. Behind the racks. Two personal shoppers for Manhattan's biggest department stores have written a wildly dishy novel that goes behind the dressing rooms of New York's fashion elite.
At Frankel's New York, the wives of billionaires and Hollywood celebrities sip champagne while stylists and tailors cater to every whim. And one person has made it her career to help these Amex-wielding shoppers create the perfect look.
Bonnie Salerno Madden knows all of her client's preferences, whims, and fantasies. She knows the price they paid to gain access to the salon where having Bonnie as their private shopper is a first-class ticket to being the toast of the New York high-fashion social scene.
But while Bonnie is all elegance on the outside, she's barely keeping it together on the inside. A single mom to a special needs child, she needs her high-pressure job to care for her family. And when that job is put in jeopardy, Bonnie will need to make some of the riskiest choices of her life to guarantee a better future for her son, and for herself. With the opportunity to live in her own fairy tale, will Bonnie have what it takes to make the trade off?

Ok but could have been better
I enjoyed reading about the behind-the-scenes operations of a high-end dept store in Manhattan and the work of the stylists/personal shoppers to the super wealthy. That part was really interesting and made me stay with the book.
While the romance between the main character and her wealthy but married client was bearable, I found the explicit sex scenes unnecessary and cliche. It put this otherwise fairly interesting book on the same level as Harlequin novels.
Other than that, it's a good, quick, fun summer "beach read".
Still needs editing
I did not read any reviews or plot synopsis before purchasing this book. From the title, I thought it might be some expose of Wall Street. Boy, was I surprised to find myself in the world of high fashion. Right on the first page was a terrible simile about tar, that sounded like something out of a 40's detective novel. I almost gave up on the book.
I am glad I hung with it because it was a fairly interesting read. I thought the bits on autism were touching and informative. I could care less about celebrity lives or high fashion, but I still found myself engrossed in the story. I think the authors were well qualified to speak about the industry and the situations seemed plausible. It is difficult to blend two voices into one, but they did a commendable job.
Spoiler: It was nice to have a main character with character, some morals and compassion. I still don't understand why they threw in the funeral bit. Slimmed down, the would have been even better.
Surprisingly Very Good!
I didn't really expect to like this book that much, and was surprised to have really enjoyed it.
I liked learning about the world of the rich & famous, the things they consider to be normal, and how they behave. Bonnie is also interesting because she had a very rare job that I had never known about.
