The Tragedy of a Misdirected Life
James 4:1-3
I.  The tragedy of disruptive problems. “Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members?”
(1) So he asks, where do they come from?
(2) How do they operate?
(3) Now notice what takes place then.
II. The tragedy of destructive passions.
(1) These destructive passions destroy peace within. “You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war.”
(2)  The destructive passions destroy peace without.
III. The tragedy of defective prayers. 
(1)  There is unoffered prayer. “Yet you do not have because you do not ask.”
(2) There is unworthy prayer. “You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss that you may spent it on your pleasures.”
“What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?”
