Pınar had just graduated from university and had plans to move back home in time for Eid. What was supposed to be a short shopping spree at the local mall turned into an intense 5-day search for the young woman from Bitlis. Where had Pınar gone and who was she with?
At a time of social upheaval in many parts of the world and during a global pandemic, Pınar’s case would force Turkey to do some introspection and evaluation as to the treatment of women in Turkish society. Despite living under a government hell bent on curtailing women’s rights, it seems that women in Turkey will continue their fight that Pınar, unknowingly, helped start.
