This week we look at part 3 of this chapter with the sermon that Jesus teaches in the synagogue on the
bread of life. Right after the feeding of the 5,000 and the incident on the sea Jesus teaches the fact that
he was able to give them physical food demonstrated by the feeding with the bread and fish, but now
he was going to offer them something far greater than that with this spiritual bread. This sermon was
and still is a difficult lesson to properly digest, but with careful examination it can be understood. Jesus is
the living bread of life, and it is our faith in the words of Jesus that produces eternal life. We look at how
A.B. Bruce describes the doctrine of the bread of life in what it is and in what it does, and most
importantly how do I gain access to this special bread.
