Peter, James and John were treated to a very rare behind-the-scenes glimpse of the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus took them up to a high mountain: "There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as the light" (Matthew 17:2). Much more occurred on this mountain that revealed more than any of these men could have ever imagined.

Jesus came to bring salvation to a lost and dying world that did not welcome him. Jesus entered our world to set people free from the plague of sin the most troubling disease in the world. On that mountain, the voice of God was heard from the glory cloud that surrounded the disciples: "This is my Son whom I love; with him I am well pleased." Then God, who loves the world, gave this admonition: "Listen to him." This admonition still exists today.
