We all want to find something. Especially something of great value. I remember when a good friend called and told me he found one of my favorite vintage guitar amplifiers on the side of the road...and then gave it to me. I freaked out, lost my mind and many other explanatory adjectives. It was something I could never really afford on my own. And I lugged that GIGANTIC app into places it was never appropriate.

This week our message is all about treasure. It comes from a few short verses in Matthew, two different stories, and is part of a larger teaching of Jesus on the kingdom of God.

The Parables of the Hidden Treasure and the Pearl 44 "The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.

45 "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. 46 When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.

These three short verses are big. They dig deep into our motivations and intentions. They help us have a conversation about value, worth and what we do with what we have.
