In this first novel from Canadian author Karen Rivers, who is now perhaps better known for her extensive young adult titles, a love affair between a youthful woman and a much older, married man plays out fully and lyrically in a landscape much like Rivers native Victoria.
Nicole Pooles thoughtful, sensitive, and mature performance conveys the poetry of the audiobooks omniscient voice. All three main characters, though just referred to as the girl, the man, and the wife, feel deeply personalized under her capable vocals. Poole is an acclaimed audio actress, having won both the AudioFile Earphones and the Publishers Weekly Listen Up Awards. She has also been an Audie Award Finalist.

This is a haunting and poetically written story, that will make you remember your own star crossed one who got away. This writer should never stop writing!
powerful and gripping
A friend actually recommended this book to me,and I was a bit unsure if I would like it.The title didnt sound too interesting,but boy was I wrong.This book is powerful and gripping,pulling you into the story and making you want to read on.The plot and characters make you feel a little different about your life.I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read good literature.

I can't get back the hours I spent reading this.
Refreshing and raw.
Karen's lyricism and prose is a refreshing splash in the face while her raw language made for many firey discussions in my local book club. 1st novel -- 1st rate!
