Season 2 of The Talktopia Sessions opens with drummer and long-time music teacher 'Ashwani Verma', recounting how he discovered drums in his school music room, the early influence of cassette culture, and heroes like Dave Weckl and Vinnie Colaiuta.

He discusses formative Delhi competitions and college festival scenes, early bands like Clandestine and the formation of Orange Street, plus the thrill of large festival crowds versus today’s club circuit and shrinking attention spans shaped by reels.

Ashwani performs “Limelight” (Rush), “Message in a Bottle” (The Police), and “Give It Away” (Red Hot Chilli Peppers) and closes with “Hard to Handle” (The Black Crowes), sharing the napkin-written time-signature prep for Rush. He explains why he initially declined Euphoria due to job and home-loan pressure, later joining for a decade; reflects on Euphoria’s Hindi-rock risk; and outlines his education-first calling and work with Casio India.
