Wonderful short story
I started listening to this in the middle of a rainy blustery night whilst camping in pembrokeshire. I recommend you also listen to it on a cold wet day. though infront of a fire.
the music really adds to the story. and I always live listening to Neil Gaiman read. he reads beautifully.
SHORT BUT USUAL GAIMAN QUALITY
Neil Gaiman has set expectations very high for everything he writes, anything that falls short of brilliant will be a let down.
This book was not a let down, it had the interesting characters and storyline which keeps you wanting more. The length makes it more like a short story than something that you can lose yourself in, and I found myself aware that the story was drawing to a conclusion from very early into it.
This is a must for Gaiman fans and a good introduction for those seeing if they would enjoy his work.
Loved the story, found the music intrusive
What a fantastic tale - I loved this story, so immersive and beautifully written. But the music ruined this audio book for me - I found it intrusive and distracting, too loud against the reading, and quite jarring at times. I wish there was a version without it :/
Could of been perfect
I love Neil Gaiman's stories and I love them even more when he narrates them but this one just didn't work for me the accompanying music was just a bit too loud sometimes jarred with Neil's voice. Sorry Neil... I did like the story though quite creepy.
Love Neil but far too short for what it cost!
Classic Gaimen folklore but just feels like it's the first chapter. Great rythm and music though!
