The Twenty-Year War is a photo book that tells the stories of the Veterans that fought in the Global War on Terror. It’s produced by Beau Simmons and Former Army Rangers Dan Blakely & Tom Amenta. The forward was provided by General Joseph Votel, U.S. Army, Retired.
In this episode we talk about the amazing idea that Dan had less than a year ago. The epic journey they embarked on to capture the heroes stories from America’s longest war. Contain in it are stories of loss, struggle and victories from the 71 Veterans highlighted in the pages.
Tom and Dan share about how this book has helped them understand what it meant to be part of this war and generation. Beau shares about how he will be forever changed by the stories, veterans and his race across the country numerous times to photograph these amazing imagines.
They knew they wanted to release it on the 20th Anniversary of September 11th, they had no idea that it would also coincide with current events in Afghanistan.
The Team also runs a Podcast Titled Never Left Behind, where they tell the stories of veterans from all branches of service.
