Even though Jesus had told his disciples to expect it, they were not prepared for His resurrection. When He died on the cross, they thought it was over. Their hope was gone. Just as they would do for anyone else who died, they prepared Jesus for burial. They rushed to get through before  the Sabbath began that Friday evening. They went to their homes no doubt in despair.
