The Handoff: Bridging the Gap

The Universal Oppressor that We All Face, Age - Session 1

Listen Later

Hello and welcome to the Handoff. A community-based podcast centered on issues, challenges, and successes revolving around the youth and elders of the Missoula community. The reason for this gathering of minds and souls is to help bridge the gap between generations, as they are often in different rooms, areas, discussions, and environs. This gap has, at times, hindered development, growth, and stability. It has also decreased the ability to transfer knowledge that can help increase and promote well-being, purpose, and commitment to the betterment of a rapidly changing Missoula community.

Listen to the first episode of The Handoff: Bridging the Gap hosted by Rajiem Seabrook. Special guests on this episode are Evyn Kolczak-Hardy (he/him), Youth Advisory Council member and Dr. Dick Blank (he/him), Missoula Aging Services. Evyn and Dick discuss the challenges and personal experience of the universal oppressor we all face, age.

Evyn Kolczak-Hardy is a first-year student at the University of Montana and has lived in the state his entire life. He is pursuing a degree in political science and is focused on community and the environment.

Dr. Dick Blank is an 87-year-old retired radiologist. He is a father of four and grandfather of eight.  He’s been a resident of MIsosula for 19 years and actively volunteers roughly 50 hours a month.  His wife passed away over 11 years ago due to dementia-related complications.
