Jesus was unpopular because he called out sin.  Jesus was unpopular because he said he was the only way to salvation.  Jesus was unpopular because he spoke the truth.
Many believers are afraid to speak the truth of the gospel because it will undoubtedly ruffle feathers, but why are we so afraid of the truth?  Do we not believe that the truth will set you free?  Certainly, it's easier to pander to lies but what are we sacrificing in the process?
