The Unsolved Murder of Roderick Henry | Pompano Beach, Florida

On December 1, 2024, just before midnight, the Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) responded to reports of a shooting near the 300 block of Avondale Drive in Pompano Beach, Florida. Upon arrival, deputies discovered an adult male, identified as Roderick Henry, who had sustained gunshot wounds. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue pronounced Henry deceased at the scene.The location of the incident was adjacent to a Department of Corrections Transitional Housing facility, known as Turning Point Bridge, which serves as a community release center for recently released inmates. Neighbors reported frequent nighttime gatherings near the facility's fence, noting that some individuals accessed the area through a hole in the fence. However, it remains unclear whether Henry had any connection to the facility.Following the shooting, the perpetrator(s) fled the scene before law enforcement's arrival. BSO's Homicide and Crime Scene units have initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding Henry's death. As of now, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for tips leading to an arrest.Community members have expressed concern over the incident, highlighting the area's usual safety despite the proximity to the transitional facility. BSO continues to appeal to the public for assistance, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in solving the case.
