The Unstoppable Christ - Good Friday

Listen Later

How could Christ endure the Cross with joy?
In this powerful Good Friday sermon, Fr. Paul leads us into one of the deepest mysteries of Holy Week: the courage of Christ, the joy of Christ, and the love of Christ that could not be stopped by shame, pain, mockery, or death itself.
Everything about Good Friday looks like defeat.
He is silent before Pilate.
He is mocked, struck, and crucified.
He refuses to save Himself.
And yet Scripture says:
“For the joy that was set before Him, [He] endured the cross, despising the shame.”
What joy could possibly be present in such suffering?
This sermon reveals the answer:
Christ saw beyond the pain.
He saw the salvation of the sinner.
He saw the reconciliation of mankind to God.
He saw you.
Drawing from the teachings of St. Athanasius of Alexandria, St. Cyril of Alexandria, and St. John Chrysostom, Fr. Paul shows that the Cross is not merely suffering. It is love with purpose. It is obedience with courage. It is joy that comes from seeing what lies on the other side.
This message is both theological and deeply practical:
• Why Christ moved willingly toward death
• What gave Him joy in suffering
• Why the thief was the first to enter Paradise
• What it means for us to carry our cross with Him
• And why something in us must also be crucified
Good Friday is not just a day to remember what Christ endured.
It is a day to decide what in us will finally be nailed to the Cross.
