Visionquest episodes 3 and 4 will go down in MCU history as arguably one of the most transformative and effective uses of retroactive continuity. These two episodes give so much context to lore we didn’t even consider, while still keeping the actual story grounded in stakes that are intentional and personal to our main characters of Vision (and the “A.I.’s” in his head) and Tommy. Vision 2.0 is having a hard time understanding humanity as he tries to gain a hold of his identity. This process, which seems more like procrastination, is one year in and he still doesn’t want to fully commit. In his head is every other Stark AI, included the much maligned AI of Ultron. Of course there’s a villain who isn’t the “big bad” and Tommy is also struggling with his identity after the end of Agatha All Along. Even though we have three episodes left, this could have easily sufficed as the last one for the season. In the midst of so much chaos in Rushville, this episode reaffirmed a lot of our premonitions and notions about the plot of this show. Zoe pulls the trigger on her condition to the inhabitants of Rushville, Hal does Jon dirty (again), the aliens go kaboom, and the aftermath of episode five will have long lasting effects. How do you think this series is going to move forward from here?

In an episode full of “agains” and “truths,” we find out who the Manhunter is, what’s actually going on at the ranch in Rushville, why no one was in the hospital, how Jon really likes the company of an older woman, and who Hal placates to. The crux of Lanterns S1:E4 lies on the continued brashness of Hal Jordan and his willingness to withhold and conceal, while actually conceding to some aspects about Jon that he needs a pep talk to get recentered about. Now that the Manhunter is revealed, what’s the mystery going to be for the latter half of the season?
