Matthew 4:23 - 5:1

This message is an introduction to the Sermon on the Mount.

The Jews in Jesus' day were controlled and oppressed by the Romans. They were hoping that God would establish His Kingdom on earth where the Jews would regain political and military independence. But Jesus came with a different Kingdom.

His Kingdom emphasized love and suffering, Jesus' kingdom changed the world and He instructs His kingdom citizens on how to live in this world in His first sermon - known as the "Sermon on the Mount.”
