I'm speaking with Recille Hamrell, one of Vermont's trailblazing storytellers. We're discussing the power of storytelling, building community and connection, and personal growth through story.
Recille began using story in the classroom as a speech therapist, supporting hundreds of of children as they developed cognitive and language skills.
Since 2007 Recille has hosted story sharing circles around the region, working with a wide range of ages and experiences. Her evening Wine and Story Open Mic at Shelburne Vineyards celebrates storytelling in another venue.
In 2014 Recille was named First Place and Audience Favorite at the Extempo Tournament of Champions Tell-Off. I was lucky enough to have been in the audience that night - her story was spellbinding!
