Go through history and you’ll find that one of mankind’s greatest missions has always been the quest to conquer death. From the Fountain of Youth to age defying pills and injections, nothing has been able to defy the second law of thermodynamics. While stopping or reversing the effects of aging may be forever out of our reach, Dr Leonard Hayflick believes there are things we can do to benefit the pathways that keep us alive and consequently add to our longevity indirectly. Jack Russo asks if we will be able to do more than manipulate longevity as science progresses or if we will continue to swap one bottle of snake oil for the next.
