The Covid-19 pandemic has affected sport events around the world in a very bad way. Many federations are debating the idea of performing without fans. The latest developments are around Roger Federer’s comments who is opposed to the idea of playing tennis without fans. But Czech professional tennis player Karolina Pliskova says that its better than not playing at all. This then brings us to the issue of the importance of fans. What value do they add to athletes, be it soccer, tennis, cricket and all the other sporting codes. Is there fulfilment in playing without the presence of supporters?
