The arts, culture, food and politics … There’s something for everyone in this month’s show!

The festivities begin with part two of host Phil Leirness’ conversation with local icon Tony Fanara, the proprietor of Palermo Italian Restaurant on Vermont Avenue (Palermo celebrates its 50th Anniversary this year). Phil and Tony discuss the American Dream, Tony’s favorite foods, and Tony’s run for Governor of California!

The first annual Los Feliz Film Fest takes place at the end of April. Phil sits down (at The Desert Rose) with festival founder Vuk Mitrovic to get the full details on what promises to be a super fun night that you won’t want to miss! And, oh year, they also watch a (blissfully short-lived) fire break out!

Plans are well underway for not one, not two, but THREE new installments of the (free) live “Viva Los Feliz” variety shows. Phil and his partner in these shows, Los Feliz Improvement Association President Debra Matlock, get together at the Guest House to chat about these shows and are (briefly) joined by the “First Gentleman” of the LFIA, Brad Grossman!

There is a terrific, joyous (and FREE) show going on at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery (up at Barnsdall). Phil discusses the show in depth with his favorite art historian, who also happens to be Phil’s favorite actress, the longest-tenured president in the history of the Los Angeles Breakfast Club, and Phil’s better half, Lily Holleman Leirness.

Finally, Los Feliz Neighborhood Council Governing Board elections are taking place on April 25 and 26 (at the Elysian Masonic Temple on Vermont). Council Representative for District B Olsen Ebright explains to Phil why a big in-person turnout is so critically important this year. As ever, Phil receives much-needed support from his trusty announcer Marc Hershon and his intrepid musical director Jon Lawlor.
