Hebrews 11:1-7.
Having just heard a stern warning, these Hebrew Christians were stirred up to look back in order to press forward with a "confident endurance" firm to the end. Certain that the "better things of salvation" belong to him and these folks, he has no problem saying--"we are those who have faith and are saved," not those who "shrink back and are destroyed." but as the letter has shown, these Believers were growing wobbly in their faith. The author doesn't want them limping along in this way, therefore, he turns their gaze [ and subsequently turns our gaze ] to some real-life examples of people who, walking by faith in the living God, God's people will endure to the end.
