Before Joseph takes his family to Egypt, he goes to the heart of Israel in obedience to dedicate Jesus. The first people to encounter Jesus were common, marginalized people...people on the edge...people like Simeon and Anna. Devout and in his old age, Simeon wouldn't die until he met the Anointed One.

As this dedicated servant of God not only touched, but held Jesus in his arms, the majesty flooded him and he sang. Likewise, Anna, widowed after only seven years and who had now lived to the age of 84, had not left the Temple. She worshipped (sang), fasted and prayed day and night. Her faithfulness paid off in the most incredible of ways.
