Listen Later

Apprentices Zola and Jasper are introduced in the Star Box Repository beneath the town archives. Zola uses a resonant hum, inspired by the need to activate the silent signal horn, to successfully open the heavily secured iron door, bypassing the expected cipher lock. Inside, they discover the Star Boxes, meant for storing the Star Seeds, are pristine and warm, contrasting sharply with the rest of the town's cold. However, they find a significant, localized area of intense heat warping the cedar paneling on the far wall. Jasper connects this location to the sealed maintenance tunnels below containing high-viscosity molasses residue from an old incident. The episode ends with Zola instructing Jasper to find archival linen to test the floor paneling for thermal transfer from below.
