Review of The Warrior Monk
Yonten really captured my heart in King's Crusade with all his laughter, seriousness, and craziness. In this book you get a glimpse of him in the beginning before things go awry. He is a fierce protector with a crazy humor knowing what he should do and what his heart tells him to even if it gets him in deep water with the Abbot. I always love when a writer gives a glimpse into a characters past of how they came to be and A.D. Starrling did an amazing job here.
Another good book
The Monk tell you about the guy in the first series. Great
awesome short
This short story is told through the eyes of Brother Yonton a Buddhist Monk, even though his ways most of the time cause his Abbott much grief. But this time while tracking down leads to another problem the monks are working on he comes across someone much more important and sacred to him and his brothers and what is worse is she seems to tied in somehow to the original problem he was working on as she keeps showing up in all the same places.
This was one action packed short story, it never stopped. I loved Yonton from the start and I hope we see more of his brother in the future. This is another great short story to help the main novels along, a glimpse into the lives of other characters, a tangent if you will. But all the same awesome. Narrator of the audiobook, which should not be missed, Michael Bower is great, he puts you right on the streets watching Yonton and Alexa chase each other with matching skills bounding from building to building, watching the two fight back to back with nothing more than a look to know that they are on the same side. Mr. Bower's is really that good, don't miss out.
One of my favorite characters of the series.
This book made me nostalgic and I really want to go back and read Warrior now. You see, Yontin, our warrior monk, has been one of my very favorite characters of this series and I miss him! So it was great to spend some time getting to know him again.
This is a short story - only about 45 minutes in audio - the perfect length to listen to at lunch or while you are on the treadmill getting your steps in. This quickie gives us some of Yontin's history... how he ended up at the monastery, what his calling was, and who else was at the monastery giving him orders.
